This week in Prep Guy we have been busy completing some assessments for end of year reports. Students have been very resilient, trying hard and not giving up. In Reading we also learnt how to find specific information in a non fiction text and in writing we have been working on spelling the 100 Most Commonly Used Words. In Maths this week we practised number formation and matching numerals with matching words.
Prep Guy Student Of The Week
Congratulations to Miheli who was chosen as this week's Student Of The Week. Students said Miheli shows all of our school values, being respectful, responsible and resilient. Well done Miheli, we are all proud of you.

Week 5 has been full of excited jitters as our Grade Ones and Twos await the Grade 1/2 sleepover! In Reading we practiced our skills in reading and following instructions through Read and Draw activities.
In Writing we researched facts about some Aussie animals and created Information Report Posters to be displayed in our classrooms (keep an eye out, mums and dads!).
In Maths we continued our understanding of informal units of measurement and used everyday classroom items to measure certain objects. We also continued looking at mass and volume, experimenting with different amounts of sand to fill a variety of objects.
Well done to our student achievers this week: Zeke Warren, Brianna Newey, and Indi Bottegal!

Grade 3 Beilby
This week has been a shorter week with a reduced program on Monday and Melbourne Cup holiday on Tuesday. On Monday we had some fun with Halloween activities and had the opportunity to participate in a sports clinic, learning the skills of cricket. We have spent the rest of this week revising this year’s work, beginning with some assessments for reports.
Students have worked really hard to settle back in to a regular routine with the disruption of Camp and a short week. We have also finalised our class page for Bunyip Tales which is brilliant.
In Reading, we have used the platform Study Ladder to hone in on our reading comprehension skills. Students enjoy using this platform as they can listen to the text which assists with comprehension.
In Writing, we have used a stimulus “Mountains” to write a Narrative Text. We have spent a lot of time looking at compound and complex sentences and making sure we use the correct structure when planning our stories. I am really proud of how quickly our students have identified areas that make for exceptional writing pieces.
In Maths, we have used the platform Essentials. This platform has adaptive assessment for individual students. This means that when they are successful at answering questions, more questions are provided to get an accurate result of what they can and can’t achieve in all areas of maths.
Congratulations to Annabelle, who is our achiever this week. Annabelle has returned from a family holiday and unfortunately missed camp. Annabelle was chosen to be our achiever because of her caring nature, positive attitude and her willingness to strive for success. Annabelle always tries her absolute best and is always willing to learn new things.
Well done Annabelle.
Mrs Jess Beilby.
Learning Community 2
It was a short but fun week in LC2. This week in Reading we started to explore the use of timelines to give useful information about a person's life. We used key details to produce an interesting paragraph. In Writing we continued to work on our biographies. We used a planning template to gather information we then used to paraphrase, draft, edit and publish. Students were also encouraged to use different text features to enhance their writing. In Maths we explored Location and Transformation. Students produced a birds-eye view of their classroom which allowed them to explore North, East, South and West. Students also used co-ordinates to create an image.
Also this week we were really lucky to have a visit from a member of local Parliament, Jason Wood. Jason talked about indigenous voice and the Uluru Statement. We learnt a lot from him and thank him for visiting Learning Community 2.
